Adrian Stone

Adrian Stone nick named ‘The Predator” was born in Bristol and boxed as an amateur for the Empire ABC.  Adrian was planning on turning pro in 1993 and on a holiday visit to the USA decided to base himself on the other side of the Atlantic.  Adrian’s big punching aggressive style appealed to the American public from an early stage.

Adrian won 25 of his first 27 contests in the US before challenging future World Champion Vernon Forrest for the NABF Welterweight Title but Adrian was stopped in the eleventh round.  Adrian then returned to the UK to continue his career winning the IBO Light Middleweight Title against Ireland’s Michael Carruth with a fifth round stoppage.  Adrian in the best form of his career went on to stop both Geoff McCreesh and Derek Roche in title defenses. In March 2001 in Plymouth Adrian again defended his title against Scotland’s brave Joe Townsley flooring him numerous times eventually winning a unanimous twelve round decision.

The four IBO Title defenses setup Adrian’s biggest fight of his career against modern day boxing legend Sugar Shane Mosley at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. Unfortunately for Adrian, Sugar Shane was in blistering form showing tremendous speed stopping Adrian in the third round.

Three comeback wins back in the UK setup Adrian’s final World Title challenge in October 2003 in his hometown Bristol.  Adrian boxed clever southpaw Sergio Martinez, the Argentinean proved to slick for an ageing brave Adrian Stone eventually stopping him in the twelfth and final round.

Adrian retired shortly after and returned to New Jersey, USA where he now resides.  Adrian finished with a 40 fight record of won 33 (KO 26) lost 5 drawn 2.
