Tony had 155 amateur fights winning 105 for Roath Amateur Boxing Club in Cardiffand represented Wales at Schoolboy and Senior level. Tony won the Welsh ABA Title in 1982, three National British Titles and one NABC Title.

After three years out of the ring Tony returned to have three more fights his last against Bristol’s Ross Hale. Unfortunately the injuries sustained in the car accident were to restrict the intensity of Tony’s training so he was forced to retire. The highlight of Tony’s pro career was challenging for the Welsh Super Featherweight Title in 1986.

Tony turned to coaching soon after at St Josephs Amateur Boxing Club in Newport. Tony has travelled the world coaching the Welsh Amateur Boxing team including the 2002 Manchester & 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Due to different rules in the Welsh Area Tony is able to remain head coach of St Joseph’s ABC whilst training professional fighters. Tony obtained his pro trainers license in 1994 and has trained top Welsh pros in Paul Samuels, Gareth Jordan and at present Gary Buckland and Matthew Edmonds.
